WEEK 7 LECTURE:

In Session 7 of our Summer Study, Megan Rund talks about the foundational work of Scripture as Paul describes it to Timothy, and how Timothy should use Scripture to complete his mission. Megan also discusses Paul’s warnings for Timothy about those who use Scripture for their own sinful purposes, and how a right view of Scripture changes everything.

WEEK 7 TEACHER TALK:

Timothy's faith can be traced back to his childhood, when his mother and grandmother passed their faith to him and taught him to love the sacred writings -- the Hebrew Scriptures. (2 Timothy 1:5; 3:14-15) His faith continued to grow and strengthen when he believed the gospel of Jesus Christ and joined Paul in service and suffering for the gospel. In this week's Teacher Talk, Megan Rund encourages us to dig into our own "genealogy of faith."

WEEK 7 STUDY TOOL:

In this video, Natalie and Jillian talk about how to use paraphrasing as a tool for Bible study.

MEMORY VERSE AND RESPONSE QUESTIONS:

Each summer, we aim to memorize at least one passage from the book we are studying— our key verse. One way we memorize Scripture is through song. In this video, our friend Kelly Gwin sings this year’s key verse, 2 Timothy 2:1-2.

Week 7’s Response Questions (page 15 of your 2 Timothy Companion Guide) include comprehension, interpretation, and application. Natalie and Jillian explain how to approach these questions for your personal study this week!

looking forward to week 8, study of 2 TIMOTHY 4:6-22:
